Chipili Utility-Scale Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant by CGM Power Group Limited (CGM). This project is a major step towards a sustainable future for Zambia, aiming to scale up to 200MW of solar power.
The Chipili Solar Plant, a twin project to the Mansa project, is strategically located in Chipili District, Zambia. The 200MW plant will operate under the project name Chipili Power Corporation Limited (CPCL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) model entirely owned by indigenous Zambian entrepreneurs.
The Chipili Solar Plant is more than just an energy project; it’s an investment in the sustainability of our planet and the prosperity of local communities. By producing zero greenhouse gas emissions, the plant will significantly reduce Zambia’s carbon footprint. Moreover, it is poised to stimulate the local economy by creating job opportunities across various sectors, thus promoting commercial and industrial growth in the region.
CGM Power Group Limited is committed to involving youth and women at all levels of the project, from development to construction. We have received unwavering support from local communities and various arms of the government. Our initiatives ensure that human development remains a key focus, reflecting our belief that the people we work with are our most valuable asset.
Our objective is to complete the Chipili Solar Plant on schedule and within budget, ensuring it operates efficiently and reliably. Key aspects of the project include obtaining permits, selecting and contracting the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company, and training local workers in solar panel installation. This will not only enhance local skills but also ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.
